Hosted approximately monthly, at times that will rotate to facilitate participation by individuals and groups from different time zones, each Climate World Chat will have an anchor talk by a member of our growing research community; the anchor talk might give an overview of a group of methods useful to the community, or a primer on terminology or resources, or a demo of a tool, or whatever is of interest. In addition, there will be announcements and plenty of time for discussion and advice, in a moderated but informal “chat” format. The zoom calls (about 1.5 hours long) will be archived and meeting notes (informal minutes) will be maintained and made available. These activities are very effective for bringing together “birds of a feather”, even if (especially if) individuals might not otherwise cross paths at any mutual conferences or meetings. This is an important means to breaking down silos of geography, scientific area, organization type, and more.
