Research
Dr. Brett Oppegaard is a media scholar, journalist, and advocate for accessibility whose research sits at the intersection of Technical Communication, Rhetoric, Disability Studies, and Digital Inequality. A first-generation college graduate, he brings deep curiosity and a passion for storytelling to his work on new and mobile media, particularly in advancing accessible and locative technologies. As principal investigator of the award-winning UniDescription project, Dr. Oppegaard develops inclusive mobile tools that improve access to public media for all. His research has been widely recognized and supported by institutions such as the NEH, NEA, NPS, and Google.
